Crytek's Hunt: Showdown starts its closed alpha this month
Friday
19.01.2018
By: HoriZon

Crytek has announced that its intriguing multiplayer swap horror, Hunt: Showdown, will enter closed alpha on January 31st, and players can sign up to participate now.

Hunt: Showdown debuted at last year's E3 and looks to offer an atmospheric blend of first-person PvE and PvP. When a match begins, up to five teams (consisting of either one or two players) must roam the thick Louisiana swampland in a bid to be the first locate and eliminate a specific, boss-like creature. The first team to fell the target gets the bounty, whereupon every other team on the map will turn their sights on the victors as they make their escape.

There's no release date for Hunt: Showdown yet, but Crytek says that the game will likely be in development for at least another 12 months once it hits in Steam Early Access, with the exact length being dependant on player feedback.

On a different note welcome too 2018 from all of us

Fortnite Battle Royale Gamble Pays Off Big for Epic
Thursday
12.10.2017
By: HoriZon

Fortnite has struck gold with this Battle Royale stuff. The multiplayer mode was introduced just a couple of weeks ago, and it's free to download and play on PS4, XB1, PC and Mac. It takes more than a few cues from the stupidly popular PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, but with Microsoft calling console exclusivity on that one, Fortnite developer Epic Games has been quick to take advantage - and boy has the gamble paid off.

The studio reports that Battle Royale has hit a very impressive ten million players. It's safe to say that it's been a success, and I must say its a lot of fun and its FREE! well for now at least.

By: HoriZon

Announced back in June at E3, Quake Champions is an oldschool PC-exclusive arena first-person shooter. As you can see in its gameplay debut trailer, it takes after the new Doom in its lightning fast sense of speed with comically quick character movement.

By: HoriZon

Lots of updates that have been made over the last year or so as and when I see them, the site is a bit dead but we will keep it around - well its our history that what it is

Updates:

  • Added Evohosting banner to left hand menus, if you need webspace please use the link they are great.
  • Fixed 'download link' for Quake 3 Demos for the Worldspawn Archive (Quake 2 & Quake 3 maps)
  • Fixed image uploads to forums for users as it was broke not sure why, but it works once again now.
  • Updates to the warnings when posting on the forums and sending private messages.
  • Removed 'tags' as it was slowing down the site massively and there is no update for the plugin.
  • Removed download links for other sites form "download page" as most have closed down.
  • YouTube videos in the news that were dead have been fixed.
  • Some small background code bugs I've missed over the years, oooppps lol
  • Lots of clean-up to the theme core.

I know the 'links page' has a few dead sites but left them as it's a part of our internet history.

As for what the future brings? who knows...
