Shacknews has had a hands on look at a new level 'ice' from the up coming PC game Crysis, I for one can't tell if its actual screenshots or concept art! You can find the article right here.

Yerli noted that this was the DirectX 9 version of the game--and it still looked incredible. "People have been criticizing us for always showing DX10, so we wanted to show DX9 to prove it still looks good enough," he explained. "Good enough" is an understatement.

To me thats fucking "wow", now if only I could run it

Worldwide cumulative sales of the Wii are now greater than those for 360, making it the best selling console of this generation, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

According to figures in the Financial Times, gamers across the world have collectively bought 9 million Wii consoles, 8.9 Xbox 360 consoles, and 3.7 million PlayStation 3 consoles. Nintendo has now overtaken Microsoft within ten months, despite the one year head start enjoyed by the Redmond giant.

Pre-Purchase The Orange Box, and play Team Fortress 2 next week.

The Orange Box—featuring Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal, as well as the complete Half-Life 2 experience to date—is now available for pre-purchase via Steam. Pre-purchase The Orange Box before the October 10 release to save 10% off the regular price and get exclusive access to the Team Fortress 2 beta on September 17.

The Orange Box, penned by IGN.com as "the package which could legitimately be called the deal of the century," features three highly-awaited new games by Valve: Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the second installment in the Half-Life 2 episodic trilogy; Team Fortress 2, the sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map; and Portal, the game that blends puzzles, first person action, and adventure gaming to produce an experience like no other.

To bring gamers up to date with the Half-Life 2 universe, The Orange Box also includes Half-Life 2, the best-selling and highest-rated action game series of all time, and the episodic debut Half-Life 2: Episode One. Customers who already own these titles will have the ability to conveniently "gift" them to a friend upon official release of The Orange Box.

Starting Monday, September 17, those who pre-purchase The Orange Box via Steam can download and activate the beta release of Team Fortress 2 (TF2). This year's most anticipated online action game, TF2 delivers new game types, a signature art style powered by Valve's next generation animation technology, persistent player statistics, and more.

As a special bonus, those who pre-purchase The Orange Box via Steam will also receive a copy of Peggle Extreme. PopCap and Valve have teamed up to create a special edition of the game cited by MSNBC as one of the “Top 5 Most Addicting Games of All Time.” This first ever collaboration is themed around content from Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and Portal which will positively result in Extreme Fever.

In summary, its now available for pre-purchase, and the package is $44.95 (about £23.) Those who purchase will be able to participate in the Team Fortress 2 beta, which is to start on September 17th.

Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Demo!

As promised the demo for ETQW has been released, the full game is expected at the end of September 2007.

The Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars PC Demo comes with the final version of Valley, one of the larger battlegrounds in the game. Set in Yosemite, California, Valley has the Global Defense Force on the attack, as they attempt to foil a Strogg contamination plot centering on a water treatment facility. Valley features a great blend of close quarters infantry action, vehicle battles and aircraft dogfights, and the varied terrain combining mountains, waterways, tunnels and industrial structures allows for many different playing styles. To top it all off, there's a multitude of optional side missions and plenty of opportunities to try out the various defense turrets, artillery and radar deployables - Valley is a prime example of the frantic and diverse action you'll find in Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars.

For those who already played Valley in the Public Beta, the map has undergone further balance improvements based on your feedback. Most notably, the GDF can now capture the Contaminator Forward Spawn before the Shield Generator is hacked, which really cranks up the action around that objective. On top of that, the Demo contains the final XP and weapon balance, player movement, and vehicle handling.

The Demo also features ETQW's bots, so you can explore the map and gameplay in single player mode with computer-controlled opponents, or use the bots to fill up empty slots on multiplayer servers. We are also including the standalone server as well as the server launcher tool, so you can host your own online and LAN games.

A list of download mirrors is available here. (730mb)

Not downloading it myself as I wasn't keen on the beta(s) - guess I will wait and see the retail version.

Site amendments, bug fixes

I have amended the download page a bit and added some of the best external links for game patches/demo sites etc.

I have also fixed a few small bugs I knew about. All that is waiting now is the IE6 "fix" and some missing graphics to add, top right logo for one and some others which have cropped up since we went live.

Other than those the sites been running very smoothly so far only a few complaints with the width of the overall site from a few but I picked the size from the statics from the old site (over 3 years worth) and most people have a res of 1280+.
