Hollenshead on the status of DOOM 4

DOOM 4 has been an elusive beast. Announced way back in 2008, we've heard the occasional bit info here and there, but still, three years after its announcement, nothing substantial is known of the title.

When, then, are we going to start hearing and seeing things of significance from the next entry to what's one of the most famed first-person shooter franchises of them all? According to id Software president Todd Hollenshead, it’ll be a while yet.

"id Tech 5 is the basis for Doom 4, and I guess infer what you will…What we're really focused on is getting Rage out the door," Hollenshead said at QuakeCon. "Once we're to that point, then we want to transition to how we're going to present Doom 4, what are the talking points, how do we introduce it. Because that stuff hasn't even been determined yet. We're talking about that internally."

"I know everybody's interested," he added. "I am too."

id do seem like to take their time with any game they make just how long has RAGE been in development now?
